Ariadne & Theseus // Jonas & Martha - Dark Nexflix

The  story of the Aegean Sea & The symbolic representation of Ariadne and Theseus’ love in Dark (played by Jonas and Martha):

One day, Theseus, tells his father (King Aegeus) that he wants to go Crete as one of the seven men in order to kill Minotaurus. His father gives him permission to go and Theseus sets out to Crete.  The King hangs a black flag on Theseus' ship, and tells his son to hang a white flag instead of the black flag so that he can see that he's alive. When they arrive in Crete, King Minos welcomes the seven men.

Theseus and Ariadne (King Minos’ daughter) fall in love at first sight. Ariadne tries to discourage Theseus from the journey that will lead his death but Theseus doesn’t give up. When Ariadne understands Theseus is sure about himself, she tells him: “There isn’t any survivor who entered the labyrinth (maze). Minotaurus has never left any of his victims alive. Even if you kill him, it’s not easy to get out from that maze. I’m going to give you a reel of yarn. Chart out your way with it. If you manage to kill Minotaurus, you can find your way with this rope.”

With great success, Theseus kills the monster and finds his way from the maze with the help of rope. Theseus becomes the first man to survive from the maze which was made by Daidalos from Fethiye. Theseus goes back home with his lover Ariadne but forgets to hang a white flag instead of the black flag in the ship. His father, King Aegeus supposes that his son is dead. With this pain, Aegeus throws himself to the sea. After this story, everyone says to the sea as the sea of Aegeus; The Aegean Sea.

Theseus bir gün babasına (Kral Aigeus) Minotaurus'u öldüren yedi kişiden biri olarak Girit'e gitmek istediğini söyler. Babası onun gitmesine izin verir ve Theseus Girit'e doğru yola çıkar. Kral Aigeus, Theseus'un gemisine siyah bayrak asar ve oğluna dönerken sağ olduğunu anlayabilmesi için siyah bayrak yerine beyaz bayrak asmasını söyler. Girit'e geldiklerinde Kral Minos yedi erkeği ağırlar.

Theseus ve Ariadne (King Minos’un kızı) ilk bakışta birbirlerine aşık olurlar. Ariadne Theseus'u ölümüne yol açacak olan yolculuktan caydırmaya çalışır, ancak Theseus pes etmez.

Ariadne Theseus'un kararlılığını anladığında, ona şöyle söyler: “Labirente giren hiç kimse şimdiye kadar kurtulamadı. Minotaurus, kurbanlarından hiçbirini canlı bırakmadı. Onu öldürsen bile, bu labirentten çıkmak kolay değil. Ben sana bir makara iplik vereceğim. İp ile yolunu çiz. Minotaurus'u öldürmeyi başarırsan, bu iple yolunu bulabilirsin. ”

Theseus büyük bir başarı ile canavarı öldürür ve labirentten çıkma yolunu ip sayesinde bulur. Theseus, Fethiyeli Daidalos'un yaptığı labirentten ilk kurtulan adam olur. Theseus sevgilisi Ariadne ile eve dönerken, gemiye siyah yerine beyaz bayrağı asmayı unutur. Babası Kral Aigeus, oğlunun öldüğünü zanneder. Bu acı ile Aigeus kendini denize atar ve bu hikayeden sonra o denize herkes Aigeus denizi; Ege Denizi demeye başlar.
