Born in 1969 B.C., Cleopatra was known as the "Auteles" or "Flute Player” Ptolemy's third child. Egypt was still rich at that time. However, the old empire was slowly ending. Locals who were not satisfied with their Macedonian owners were extremely restless. The Flute Player consistently asked for help by going to Rome to claim the throne. He had taken Cleopatra to one of these trips when she was 12 years old. Thus Cleopatra saw that the Roman lenders wanted 10,000 gold from his father to walk the affairs.
Cleopatra is estimated to have received a good education. According to historians of that time, Cleopatra could read and write Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Armenian, Abundant, and Somali languages in addition to their own language. Ptolemy could not even speak to his children, not just under his command. One day, while away, one of the eldest daughter Tryphaena took possession. After he was killed, the throne passed to his second daughter, Berenice. Then Ptolemy came with the help of Rome and executed her. Cleopatra, the eldest child, had reasons to think and find a solution.
She knew Egypt needed the help of the Romans. However, giving money for this help led to the impoverishment of the state. It was clearly in the family that she should take care of herself. Something was not working and it had to improve. In 51 B.C., When Cleopatra was 18 years old her father died and the kingdom transferred to her and her brother Ptolemy XIII. But things were bad in the reign. The agriculture was terrible because it did not carry the Nile that year. There were insecurity and even hatred against the dynasty, who was a native of Macedonia. They were quite uncomfortable with this hybrid management.
She was taken away from power because of eunuch’s and the surrounding hinterland’s trick to her brother and sent to exile by the Nile Valley in southern Egypt. Meanwhile, in Rome, the government was divided into three. The power that divided between Caesar, Pompei, and Crassus was not very bright. Caesar, who was at the forefront of the divided power in these three wars, intends to reconcile Cleopatra and his brother. But Cleopatra did not want to make peace with his brother. First, she planned to influence Caesar, but in practice, it was very difficult to reach him. With the suggestion of the Sicilian slave Apollodores, she carried herself to the presence of Caesar. Caesar was greatly influenced by Cleopatra's mind and courage. Caesar, who reconciled Cleopatra with his brother, also killed the eunuch that broke them.
When Caesar died, the Roman Empire was divided into two, the Octavian (Caesar's noble and official adoption) and Marcus Antonius. The East was now ruled by Marcus, and his first job was to visit Egypt. Antonius was crazy in love with Cleopatra. Cleopatra's got two daughters from Antonius. They lived in Tarsus for a while and in these years they opened war on Octavius. Cleopatra and Marcus had to flee in the battle in Aktium.
There are many rumors about Cleopatra's death, but one of the most famous legends was that he committed suicide by getting him into a snake. But it is thought that Cleopatra, a woman so intelligent enough to travel with a snake beside her, carried her own poison to commit suicide.
